Chiropractic and massage therapy are great complimentary therapies that should go
hand in hand. Both are natural medicine. Using the power of touch to heal and to
restore is the oldest medicine in the world.
Chiropractic is the medicine of tomorrow, today. Chiropractic itself deals with the
mobility of the joints of the body, primarily in the spine, although extremities may
also be treated. When the joints in the spine become fixated, ultimately the soft
tissue (discs, muscles, ligaments, fascia, and tendons) will have to compensate, and
over time, become overwhelmed. Lastly, the nerves that course through these
areas will become affected, manifesting in the form of pain, numbness, tingling,
and/or weakness, not to mention the nerves of the sympathetic and
parasympathetic nervous system that control all of the body's functions such as
heart rate, breathing, digestion, wound healing and so forth.
Chiropractors, besides their knowledge of natural medicine in general, are trained in
freeing up "stuck" joints, similar to a dental hygienist removing plaque from the
teeth. Once the joints have been freed, which may take a series of treatments to
re-educate them, the soft tissue must be dealt with in order to relieve pain and
inflammation. Remember, your body wants to heal and is doing the best it can,
always. As hard as it is to accept, pain and numbness are messages from the body
of an underlying problem, which you ignore at your own risk. By increasing things
that help it, and reducing those things that don't, your odds of getting better are
enormous.
We are delighted to have Dr. Ezra Edgerton join our staff. In addition to chiropractic,
Ezra also practices naturopathy. Naturopathy is a holistic form of medicine that may
encompass nutrition, manual therapies, herbs, minerals, aromatherapy and other
non-invasive, non-surgical modalities. Dr. Edgerton is available for consultations
and adjustments in our office on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7 p.m. He also
maintains a practice in Boiling Springs, NC.
Ezra's goal is to offer safe and effective alternatives to drugs and surgery for all
ages and conditions. In addition to the types of manual adjustments you are
probably familiar with, he also offers hand-held adjusting and deep tissue vibratory
techniques for those who may be uncomfortable receiving a traditional spinal
manipulation. Ezra's knowledge of nutrition is vast, and he is expert at suggesting
nutritional changes that address general health, as well as chronic conditions of the
bowels, allergies, sinus problems, female hormonal disturbances, and inflammation.
If you would like to have more energy, less stiffness, take fewer pharmaceuticals,
and generally get more enjoyment out of life, good health is the cure. Helping you
obtain optimum health and keep it is the goal of Dr. Edgerton and our entire team of
wellness professionals.
If you are having a chiropractic emergency situation when Dr. Edgerton is not
available, please give us a call and we will refer you to someone in your
neighborhood that we know and trust.
We will also gladly accept your insurance if it pays for chiropractic.
