Laura Allen is the author of The Plain & Simple Guide to
Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork Examinations, 2nd
edition published by Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins in
January 2009, with enhanced web-based ancillaries for
instructors and students. Hundreds of practice questions
online will assist teachers who need to create tests.
This book will prepare the student to pass the National or
State Certification Examination or MBLEx, or your particular
state's exam. Written in Plain & Simple language that
anyone can understand, the book contains numerous Tips
for Passing, positive affirmations, and lots of information on
letting go of the stress on the test.
Written in response to complaints from students about
what the other books were lacking, The Plain & Simple
Guide contains plenty of Pathology, Eastern theory and
techniques, Kinesiology, and more.
Laura regularly holds classes on passing the MBLEx and
the NCE. If you would like to host this class at your school,
contact Laura at 828-288-3727.
Laura Allen had a second book from Lippincott, One Year to
a Successful Massage Therapy Practice, published Feb 2008.
Full of low-cost and no-cost ways to market your massage
practice, this book is meant to help the practitioner take
positive action that results in a growing practice. To place
an order for either book, click on the book.
If you are a school owner or faculty member and would like
to obtain a review copy of the book, please contact

Allen is an Approved Provider of Continuing Education
under the NCBTMB, and in addition to teaching her popular
exam prep class, personally teaches classes in Marketing,
Professional Ethics, Spa Techniques, Reiki, and Structural
Rebalancing. Laura is a knowledgeable and entertaining
teacher who really motivates students. If you are
interested in having Laura come to your school to teach a

Laura particularly enjoys teaching for AMTA unit meetings
and state conferences and will practically go anywhere for
AMTA!
Laura also acts as a consultant to individuals and schools
seeking to become Approved Providers and will assist in
the approval process. Laura has also created custom
examinations for schools all over the country, and has
assisted start-up schools in creating the necessary
documentation for initial licensure and/or accreditation.
Due to the fact that Laura is currently serving a term on the
North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy,
Laura is not assisting schools in North Carolina with
licensure at this time so there will be no appearance of
conflict of interest. School owners from other states are
welcome to get in touch.
