Laura Allen is the author of The Plain & Simple Guide to
Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork Certification, published
by Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins in July 2005. The second
edition is due to be published in January 2009, with
enhanced web-based ancillaries for instructors and
students. The new edition will be entitled the Plain &
Simple Guide to Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork
Examinations.
This book will prepare the student to pass the National or
State Certification Examination or MBLEx, or your particular
state's exam. Written in Plain & Simple language that
anyone can understand, the book contains numerous Tips
for Passing, positive affirmations, lots of information on
letting go of the stress on the test, as well as a CD-ROM
with three complete practice exams. The 2nd edition of
this book is currently in progress and will include great
instructor ancillaries on an accompanying website. If
you're a faculty member and want to be notified as soon as
the new edition is out, send me an e-mail or contact your
Lippincott representative or visit their website at
www.lww.com
Written in response to complaints from students about
what the other books were lacking, The Plain & Simple
Guide contains plenty of Pathology, Eastern theory and
techniques, Kinesiology, and more.
Laura regularly holds classes on passing the NCE. If you
would like to host this class at your school, contact Laura at
828-288-3727.
Laura Allen had a second book from Lippincott, One Year to
a Successful Massage Therapy Practice, published Feb 2008.
Full of low-cost and no-cost ways to market your massage
practice, this book is meant to help the practitioner take
positive action that results in a growing practice. To place
an order for either book, click on the book.
