Home // Massage Therapy & Bodywork

Our massage therapists are licensed by the North Carolina Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. They have a variety of skills and tend to work from an eclectic standpoint in order to give you the results you’re looking for, whether that’s injury rehabilitation or just a relaxing hour to call your own. If you’re seeking a particular modality of massage, let us know. Our staff members have different areas of expertise and certifications and we want to place you with the therapist who will be right for you. If we can’t accommodate you, we’ll try to refer you to a therapist who can.

We prefer to do sessions that are an hour in length…we are glad to accommodate longer sessions of 1.5 or 2 hours. While we will accept appointments that are a half hour, half hour sessions are reserved for focused massage– your primary area of stress and tension. We simply cannot rush through the whole body in a half hour. Some of our modalities, including TMJ work, Rolfing, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage require a full hour and shorter sessions are not available.

Our rates are listed as $1/2 hr /$1 hr /$1.5 hrs

Swedish Massage $40/$60/$90  The classic stress relief massage, guaranteed to make you float off into a cloud of relaxed bliss. Swedish massage is a lighter-touch modality that is profoundly relaxing, but does not go deep into the muscle.

Deep Tissue Massage $40/$60/$90  For those who have muscle aches and pains, or those who just prefer a deeper massage.

Hot Stone Massage $80 (requires an hour) Feel stress dropping off your body and go into the serenity zone as hot stones melt away your tense muscles.

Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Hot Stone Massage may be performed for you and your friend or loved one in our Couple’s Room. It’s a great gift for a wedding, a birthday, or an anniversary!

Medical Massage/Manual Therapy $30 per 15 minute unit, $120 per hour.  All insurance billing is for medical massage/manual therapy and is based on medical necessity. Your session will include focused myofascial release, and may include trigger point therapy, lymphatic drainage,  hot and cold therapies, and the application of topicals (with your permission, of course). If you are coming for medical massage, please arrive in time to fill out the required paperwork and for the therapist to interview you thoroughly and to give you aftercare instructions.  We do not diagnose or prescribe.  If your insurance company is not a part of our network, you must pay up front and we will provide you with the necessary treatment notes and receipts for reimbursement.

Please note: The vast majority of insurance plans do not cover “wellness care” or “maintenance care,” although there are a few exceptions. You are liable for any and all amounts that your insurance does not pay. Even when the insurance company pre-authorizes treatment, they plainly state that it is not a guarantee of payment and that your claim will be considered based on medical necessity. If you would like to know whether or not your plan will cover your therapy, please stop by our office or give us a call. BCBS, MedCost, UHC and other major plans will pay only when you are under the care of our chiropractor.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage $90 (requires an hour) The Upledger Method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is usually done at the request of your physician, although a prescription isn’t required. MLD is most often prescribed for the treatment of lymphedema post-surgery or due to other complications. MLD is very light touch massage–”no heavier than a nickel resting on your skin.” Although the intent is to affect the lymphatic system, many people find it very relaxing.

Pregnancy Massage $40/$60/$90 Special attention for the expectant mother! We have a Prego Pillow that will allow you to lay on your stomach no matter how far along you are…or we can do side-lying work if you prefer. If you are experiencing any problems with your pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes, or if you have been ordered to be on bed rest, we will need your doctor’s written permission before we can give you a massage.

Rolf Method of Structural Integration $100  (requires 1.5-2 hours) Structural Integration (SI) is intense bodywork that is focused on the fascia–the body’s connective tissue. Optimally, SI is performed in a series of ten sessions–with each section focused on different areas of the body. SI is very deep work that gets to the core of pain that is caused or exacerbated by structural and postural faults, aging, and the insidious effects of gravity. You will be required to stand up in your underwear for a posture analysis before receiving SI. If you pay up front for ten sessions, you will receive a 100. discount (10 sessions for 900.)

TMJ Dysfunction Therapy $60 (requires an hour) Massage focused on the neck, shoulders, head, and muscles of mastication. For the last 15 minutes or so of the session, your therapist will put on a sterile glove and work inside your mouth. TMJ massage is one of the most amazing modalities, and we have received regular dentist referrals for TMJ for many years. Most people will notice relief from the symptoms (clicking, pain, teeth grinding, inability to open the mouth wide enough) with the very first session. Depending on the severity of your condition, you may want to get several sessions in close proximity and then periodically get a maintenance session.
